Foxborough Police Begin Summer Concert Preparations

Police Chief Edward O'Leary concerned about two day music festival.

Many questions have been swirling throughout the State as to when the new fine of $200 for public drunkenness will go into effect.

In order for the fine to be implemented, Attorney General Martha Coakley will have to approve it.

Town Manager Kevin Paicos believes the fine will help "alter behavior," resulting in fewer people being taken into protective custody for public drunkenness.

If this fine is passed, one of the first tests will surly be country superstar Kenny Chesney's double, back to back concert at Gillette Stadium this summer.

Kenny Chesney and the Zack Brown Band were originally scheduled for a public hearing, March 8 at the town selectmen meeting; However because of the large scale nature of the two concerts, Police Chief Edward O'Leary was unable to provide an adequate safety plan to the board just yet.

Traditionally, the concert has been a one-day music event, however this year it will be split up into a two-day music festival making O'Leary partially concerned about the safety and security costs.

If the new fine is approved by Coakley, ticket holders for the event will be notified through the Kraft Group.

Chesney's Aug. 27 concert in Foxboro sold out in just minutes. Tickets for the second day, Aug. 28, are still on sale.
