Donate Blood at Gillette Stadium on Dec. 1

Sixth annual Blood Drive at Gillette Stadium will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 as Bob's Discount Furniture and the American Red Cross team up with the New England Patriots.

Bob’s Discount Furniture and the American Red Cross are teaming up with the New England Patriots to host the sixth annual “mega” blood drive and day of family fun at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. inside the luxurious Putnam Club.

“The American Red Cross truly appreciates Bob’s Discount Furniture for being a valued sponsor and we sincerely thank the New England Patriots for hosting the sixth annual “mega” blood drive to help patients in need,” said Donna M. Morrissey, Director of Communications, American Red Cross Northeast Division.  “The Red Cross thanks the community for helping make up the shortfall of blood donations after Superstorm Sandy. We urge eligible donors to remember patients during the holiday season and year round.”

Bob's Discount Furniture president Bob Kaufman said he was equally pleased to partner with the American Red Cross and the New England Patriots to provide a day of family fun at Gillette Stadium for a good cause.

“We are pleased to partner with the American Red Cross and the New England Patriots and provide a day of family fun at Gillette Stadium while at the same time helping to save lives," said Kaufman. "Superstorm Sandy served as a reminder that we must be prepared to help in advance of disasters, and there is no better way than giving the gift of life.”

During the blood drive in the luxurious Putnam Club, all attendees will have a chance to enter into a drawing for two autographed footballs from a current player. Patriots Legends Joe Andruzzi, John Smith, Steve Nelson, Roland James, Matt Chatham and Patriots cheerleaders are also scheduled to attend.

Patriots tickets and other prizes will be given away. Ice cream will be provided by New England Ice Cream Co.

Kaufman and Cathy Poulin of Bob’s Discount Furniture will make special guest appearances. In addition to sponsoring the event, Bob’s Discount Furniture is generously donating 24 recliners to be raffled off throughout the event. Bob’s Discount Furniture has donated the furniture to thank generous blood donors and also to support a sufficient blood supply for patients in need.

Participating area high school bands and cheerleaders are scheduled to attend and entertain during the blood drive. Also, blood donors will be treated to Super Saturday at Gillette Stadium, which will host six of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Super Bowls on the same day.
