5 Things: Patriots Cheerleader Auditions, Burrell Family Fun Day, Local Fundraisers & More

1. Chance of Snow Showers this Weekend in Foxborough

Saturday’s weather in Foxborough, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for a slight chance of snow showers before 10 a.m., then a chance of rain showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected. Saturday night: A chance of rain showers before 8 p.m., then a chance of snow showers. Patchy fog between 2 and 3 a.m., then Patchy fog after 4 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 28. Northwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected. Sunday: A chance of snow showers before 1 p.m., then a slight chance of rain showers between 1 and 5 p.m., then a slight chance of rain and snow showers after 5 p.m. Patchy fog before 7 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 38. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Sunday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. West wind 6 to 9 mph.

2. New England Patriots Cheerleaders Holding Open Auditions Saturday

The New England Patriots cheerleaders will hold an open audition for the 2013 squad on Saturday, March 2.
Women who are at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED are invited to audition. The auditions will take place in Gillette Stadium’s Dana Farber Field House. Registration begins at 10 a.m.

Candidates will perform two designated routines and a freestyle combination. They will be judged on dance ability, showmanship, overall appearance and level of physical fitness.

Judges will narrow the field to up to 65 participants to be invited back for final auditions on Saturday, March 16. For more information on the audition process can, click here.

3. Burrell Family Fun Day

Join the Burrell School at 10 a.m. Saturday for its annual Burrell Family Fun Day that features games and activities for kids of all ages, including:

  • Balloon Blaster
  • Speed Pitch
  • Bouncy Obstacle Course
  • Break a Plate
  • Arts and Crafts
  • A Fun Salon- including nails, hair paint and tattoos
  • Balloon Animals
  • Refreshments: Pizza, slushies, cotton candy, bake sale, and more.

Here’s a look at this weekend’s events at Patriot Place:

  • (Saturday) - Bass Pro Shops Spring Fishing Classic: Join Bass Pro Shops for the annual Fishing Classic Feb. 22 to March 10, featuring free seminars, boat specials, rod trade in, reel trade in and more. You can also enter to win a fishing trip with Tony Stewart.
  • (Saturday) - Artist's Studio & Gallery features Norton High School: The Artist's Studio & Gallery at Patriot Place hosts Norton High School displaying pieces of student art along with other artists from around the area. Stop in and check out these great pieces.

5. Support Local Fundraisers Saturday

Dadmun's Defense Against Multiple Myeloma

EVENT: Dadmun's Defense Against  Multiple Myeloma Fundraiser, Saturday, March 2 at 7 p.m., Demetri's (formerly Christina's)

INFO: Dadmun's Defense against Multiple Myeloma is a fundraiser for Mark Dadmun who is fighting Multiple Myeloma. Support his fight by attending Saturday's fundraiser, which will feature raffles and a Silent Auction. All proceeds go towards helping Mark beat MM. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased by calling 774-244-7183 or 508-285-5857. If you cannot attend the fundraiser but would like to make a donation, you can mail checks Payable to Dadmun's Defense against MM to Barbara Dadmun 60 George Ide Dr., Attleboro

In addition to raffles and a Silent Auction, the fundraiser will feature appetizers, and Cash Bar. The Fathers and Sons Band and The Brianna Grace Band will provide live musical entertainment.

Foxboro Lions, FHS Tennis Teams Host Bottle and Can Drive

On Saturday, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Town Hall parking lot, the Foxboro Lions Club and Foxborough High School tennis teams will host a bottle and can drive.
