1. Expect a Rainy Friday in Foxborough

Today’s weather in Foxborough, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for rain, mainly after 9 a.m. Areas of fog after 11 a.m. High near 41. East wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible. Friday night: Rain likely, mainly before midnight. Areas of fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 37. North wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

2. Foxborough Youth Baseball & Softball Opening Day Parade is Saturday

Foxborough’s youth baseball and softball programs will celebrate Opening Day Saturday with its annual parade and ceremony

The parade kicks off at the Invensys Parking lot on Neponset Avenue at 8 a.m. and concludes with a ceremony at Booth Fields on South Street prior to the start of games.

3. Invensys Announces Public Information Session Set for April 25

Invensys has announced details to its plans to hold a public information session on April 25 on its proposed Tax Increment Financing (TIF) program to the town of Foxborough. The information session will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Invensys cafeteria across the street from its 38 Neponset Ave. building. The session will include a brief presentation at 7:15 p.m. that will include informative posters, handouts, products and a Q&A.

Invensys’ announcement said the global technology and manufacturing company has “enjoyed being a part of the Foxborough community for more than 100 years.”

From its three facilities in Foxborough, the Company and its employees develop and manufacture products that help its customers monitor, control and automate their industrial processes, according to the announcement.

“The Company has recently proposed revitalization plans for its Foxborough facilities that would benefit the Town and surrounding area in a variety of ways, including generating new tax revenue, retaining 900 quality, high‐paying jobs and continuing to enhance the local economy.

As part of its long‐term plan, Invensys has applied for Tax Increment Financing (TIF) from the Town, and has received unanimous support for its proposal from the Foxborough Board of Selectmen and Advisory Committee.”

Now the Company seeks Town Meeting approval for its TIF and is hosting a public information session to discuss the benefits of the proposal.

5. Foxborough Native Derek Arnold’s Shot at National Hockey Championship Ends Thursday

Foxborough native Derek Arnold recorded an assist and had two shots on net but his UMass Lowell men’s hockey team fell to Yale, 3-2 in overtime in Thursday’s NCAA Frozen Four semifinal game.

Arnold and the River Hawks’ dream season comes to an end one game short of a national championship appearance. Despite the loss, Arnold had a tremendous season, coming through in the clutch time and time again enroute to a storybook season for UMass.
