5 Things: Foxborough High School Blood Drive, Schools Technology Night, Gas Prices Spike & More

Here's five things you need to know in Foxborough for today, Feb. 6.

1. Chance of Snow Wednesday in Foxborough

Today’s weather in Foxborough, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for a chance of snow, mainly before 8 a.m. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 39. Light northwest wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected. Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 15. West wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light northwest after midnight.

2. Foxborough High School Blood Drive

A blood drive will be held at Foxborough High School from 2 to 5 p.m.

3. Foxborough Public Schools District-wide Family Technology Night

In an effort to provide parents with an understanding of how technology is being used in today's classroom the Foxborough School District is hosting its second annual Parent Technology Night on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Foxborough High School from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The event will begin with a brief overview presentation of technology and will be followed by a series of breakout sessions, which will focus on how innovative technology tools are being used to enrich instruction across all disciplines and create dynamic learning environments. Participants may choose three breakout sessions.

The goal of the event is to give parents a general understanding of how current technologies are being used by teachers and students within the classroom and at home.

4. AdCom Meets to Discuss Foxborough FY14 Budget

Foxborough’s Advisory Committee will meet at 7 p.m. in the Andrew Gala Meeting Room of Town Hall to hold a general discussion of the FY14 budget.

5. Gas Prices Up 14 Cents in Massachusetts

The increase of crude oil resulted in an upward tick of 14 cents for gas prices in Massachusetts, according to AAA Southern New England.

A Feb. 4 AAA survey of prices in the state found that self-serve, regular unleaded averaged at $3.59 per gallon, which is 14 cents higher than a week ago.

"Prices locally are up 14 cents over the past month, but haven’t increased as quickly as they did this time last year," reads the release. "The current price is seven cents above the national average for self-serve unleaded of $3.52. A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was $3.49."

The range in prices in AAA's survey for unleaded regular is 30 cents, from a low of $3.49 to a high of $3.79.
