A student pit band will also be performing during the musical. Marino describes the production as a “hilarious musical comedy.”

“A cast of zany characters, played by 18 students, is let loose on a ship heading to London,” said Marino. “With romance and slapstick comedy and gangsters and angels, chaos inevitably ensues.”

5. Foxborough Regional Charter School Students to Rehabilitate School in Costa Rica

FRCS World Language Teacher Ms. Ceil Rose, along with 10 students and professional expedition leader, Erik Daubert, will experience an amazing adventure in Costa Rica this April.

As the world becomes a more interconnected place in the 21st century, opportunities such as these help prepare students to be global citizens in a very real way, according to FRCS’ website.

“The trip serves several purposes: community service, physical challenge and cultural/language experience,” FRCS said.

Upon arrival, students will be working with the Malekus Indigenes people to rehabilitate a school for Costa Rican children. During the project, they will need to use the Spanish language skills that they’ve learned at FRCS, some since kindergarten. During the physical challenge phase, students will hike up a mountain and trek through the lush Costa Rican jungles, learning about the local wildlife. In addition to this community service and learning opportunities, students have also been strengthening their organizational skills leading up to the trip – getting passports, vaccinations, filling out paperwork, learning about their destination, and fundraising for the trip. The team will end their trip zip-lining over the jungle canopy and white water rafting.

The team departs in April 13th.
