5 Things for the Weekend: Big Football Weekend in Foxborough, Fall Festival at Igo, Halloween Celebration and More

Saturday’s weather in Foxborough, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for occasional drizzle before 11 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Patchy fog before 11 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 71. Light south wind becoming southwest 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent. Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 45. West wind 6 to 8 mph. Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 60. West wind 7 to 15 mph. Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 43. West wind 8 to 11 mph.

2. Big Football Weekend in Foxborough

It’s a big weekend in Foxborough for football fans as the town will be hosting two homecoming games Saturday in advance of Sunday’s showdown between the Patriots and rival New York Jets at Gillette Stadium.

Saturday:

  • Noon - UMass Football Homecoming Game vs. Bowling Green at Gillette Stadium: The Minutemen will host BGSU at noon Saturday for its Homecoming game at Gillette Stadium.
  • 4 p.m. – Foxborough High School Football Homecoming Game vs. Oliver Ames: Rain postponed Foxborough’s Homecoming game against Oliver Ames to Saturday at 4 p.m. at Ahern Field. Foxborough High’s Homecoming dance will be held after the game from 7 to 10 p.m. at the high school’s cafeteria.

Sunday:

  • 4:25 p.m. – New England Patriots vs. New York Jets at Gillette Stadium: The Patriots will host the rival New York Jets Sunday in a pivotal showdown for first place in the AFC East. 3. Fall Festival at Igo School

The Igo School will hold its annual Fall Festival from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the elementary school.

4. Patriot Place Events:

Saturday:

  • 6 p.m. - Three Days Grace Performs at Rock The Plaza (Weather Permitting): This free live concert will be held on the Rock the Plaza Stage at Patriot Place featuring Three Days Grace. The Canadian rock act is comprised of Adam Gontier (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Neil Sanderson (drums, piano, backing vocals), Brad Walst  (bass guitar), and Barry Stock (lead guitar).  The group has sold more than 6 million records in the United States, with hits such as "Break," which spent a total of 8 weeks at #1 at Active Rock and was the #1 most played song at Active Rock in 2010; "The Good Life," which spent a total of 6 weeks at #1 at Active Rock and was the #2 most played song at Active Rock in 2010.  Other well-known songs include "World So Cold", "Never Too Late", "Animal I've Become", "I Hate Everything About You" and "Pain."
  • 7:30 p.m. - Johnny Winter performs at Showcase Live: Johnny has always been one of the most respected singers and guitar players in rock and the clear link between British blues-rock and American Southern rock.
  • 7:30 p.m. - New England Revolution vs. Chicago Fire: Come see the New England Revolution take on the Chicago Fire at Gillette Stadium.
  • 9:30 p.m. - Eric Grant Band at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill: The Gilford, New Hampshire based Eric Grant Band has taken the country music scene by storm playing in front of thousands of fans in northern New England since their inception in 2009.

Sunday:

5. Hunakai Studio’s 4th Biennial Art of Educator Show

Hunakai Studio's fourth biennial Art of the Educator show will hold the opening reception Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. It features artist/educators from area districts: Canton, Sharon, Medfield, Walpole, Mansfield, Franklin, Middleboro with over 16 area artist/educators exhibiting what they can do. It is a perfect opportunity to learn more about the instructors as artists, their district's programs and the importance of supporting fine arts education in our public schools and to the economy of the 21st century.
