5 Things for Nov. 9: POW/MIA Seat Dedication at Gillette Stadium, 101 Dalmatians at Burrell and More

1. Expect a Sunny Friday in Foxborough with a High Near 49

Today’s weather in Foxborough, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for sunny, with a high near 49. Northwest wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33. West wind 3 to 7 mph.

2. Gillette Stadium to Hold Dedication Ceremony for POW/MIA Soldiers

The New England Patriots and New England Revolution will pay tribute to POW/MIA soldiers with a special ceremony and dedication Friday morning at Gillette Stadium.

The ceremony will mark the first time in the history of professional sports that a team will leave a seat permanently unoccupied in recognition of the many soldiers who are POW/MIA.

A black seat above the stadium’s south end zone will remain permanently empty and marked by a plaque recognizing the sacrifice of the POW/MIA.

Robert Kraft, chairman and CEO of the The Kraft Group and Joe D’Entremont, president of the Massachusetts Chapter 1 of the Rolling Thunder, will participate in the dedication, along with approximately 50 members of the Rolling Thunder, who will enter Gillette Stadium on their motorcycles. The ceremony occurs in advance of the Patriots’ Veterans Day game on Sunday vs. the Buffalo Bills in Foxborough.

3. 101 Dalmatians Kids at Burrell Elementary School

Foxboro Recreation presents 101 Dalmatians Kids, featuring more than 30 first to fifth graders from all schools in Foxborough. Two shows only: Friday, Nov. 9 at 5:30 and 7 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes prior to each show, and the production runs approximately 40 minutes. Tickets are $3 each.

4. Jaycees to Decorate Foxboro Common on Dec. 1

The Foxboro Jaycees will be decorating the Town Common on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon. The Jaycees will be hanging garland and bows around the light posts, wreaths on the common signs, lights on the small bushes, and a nativity scene with hay on the bandstand. You are invited to meet the Jaycees that morning if you're interested in helping out. Volunteering also counts as community service hours for the National Honor Society.

5. Patriot Place Events:

• 9:30 p.m. - Digger Dawg at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill: This band offers a high-energy show of the ultimate in country, rock and blues. Digger Dawg was honored with a tour overseas to the troops in 2008 in Kuwait and Iraq.
