1. Chance of Showers and Thunderstorms with a High Near 85 Friday

Today’s weather in Foxborough, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could be severe, with gusty winds and heavy rain. Patchy fog before 10 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. Northwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. Friday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 2 and 4 a.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 a.m. Some storms could be severe, with gusty winds and heavy rain. Patchy fog before 9 p.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Light northeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

2. We May Know Foxborough High’s New Athletic Director Monday

Foxborough Schools Superintendent Debra Spinelli told us she expects the district to name Foxborough High School’s next athletic director by the end of this week and she will be able to provide more details on that decision Monday. Foxborough High School began its search for a new athletic director after Craig Najarian resigned from that position in June to take the same title in Holliston, which he began on July 1. Najarian had served as Foxborough High’s athletic director for the past five years.

3. AT&T Expands 4G LTE Into Foxborough

Getting a high-speed wireless Internet connection in Foxborough became easier Thursday.

AT&T announced it expanded its Boston-area 4G LTE network to Norfolk and Plymouth counties, as well as the Greater Worcester area.

Besides Foxborough, the new area communities are Dover, Sharon, Medfield, Stoughton, Walpole and Wrentham.

The network launched in Boston last November, AT&T said in a press release.

4. Events:

  • 11 a.m. - Summer Sensation 2012 - Brian's Bubble Experiment: This interactive program features musical fun, interactivity and BUBBLES for children ages 2 to 8.
  • 1:30-4 p.m. - Patriots Training Camp: For Patriots fans who want to get closer to the action or are looking for an inexpensive way to entertain the kids, the team’s training camp offers just the ticket and is free to attend.
  • 8 p.m. - Clint Black performs at Showcase Live: Prolific singer-songwriter Clint Black has long been heralded as one of Country music’s brightest stars. His many talents have taken him even further, as Black has transcended genres to become one of the most successful artists in all the music industry.
  • 9:30 p.m. - Aid to Navigation at Toby Keith's I Love this Bar & Grill: Aid to Navigation is an original rock, pop, and blues band that also performs covers of everything under the sun.

5. Boyden Library’s Upcoming Events

Registration will begin at Boyden Library's Children's Desk on Monday, July 30 for "Father Goose Tales" by Jim Napolitano of Nappy's Puppets. This wonderful shadow puppet program will take place on Aug. 9 at the Foxboro Recreation Building at 68 Mill St. at 2 p.m. Families with children ages 3 and older are invited to register. Also, as a reminder, Barn Babies, the popular petting zoo will be at the Boyden Library at Chestnut Green on Wednesday, Aug. 1. The program is appropriate for ages 3 and older.
