1. Chance of Showers and Thunderstorms Thursday

Today’s weather in Foxborough, according to the National Weather Service based in Taunton, calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 9 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Thursday night: Patchy fog after 2 a.m. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 63. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph.

2. Boyden Library at Chestnut Green Experiences Flooding Wednesday

The Boyden Library announced on its Facebook page Wednesday that its temporary quarters at Chestnut Green experienced “a slight flood” forcing the library to only operate at “partial service.” The Adult Circulation Desk and Public Computer Area were up and running Wednesday but the Children’s Department was closed and will remain closed Thursday. Cleanup has been underway and those planning to visit the library are asked to call (508) 543-1245 for an update.

3. Foxborough High School Golf Team Asking Community for Support this Season

The Foxborough High School golf team will be “canning,” or collecting money in cans at Dunkin’ Donuts on Route 140 in Foxborough on Friday morning from 7 to 10 a.m. and at Stop & Shop on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon. Money donated will go towards the golf program and its upcoming season.

4. Events:

  • Donate pants at Old Navy and enter to win tickets to the New England Country Music Festival: Donate a pair of children or youth sized pants at Old Navy to Cradles to Crayons and receive 50 percent off an adult ticket to The Hall presented by Raytheon and be entered to win two tickets to The New England Country Music Festival. There will be a winner named every day leading up to the two-day concert (Aug. 24 and 25).
  • 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Train Like an Astronaut at The Hall: Local physical education teachers will run the NASA program, which includes activities like an agility course, a space food and energy station and a hydration station. The program will also include an appearance by NASA Commander Chris Cassidy, a Salem, Mass. native who has logged more than 375 hours in space. His next space flight is scheduled for March 2013.
  • 11 a.m. - Summer Sensation 2012 - Bounce Houses: Jump around all afternoon in inflatable bounce houses. Located in the North Marketplace outside of Red Robin. Have a blast as the kids bounce the day away.
  • 1:30 to 4 p.m. - Patriots Training Camp: For Patriots fans who want to get closer to the action or are looking for an inexpensive way to entertain the kids, Patriots Training Camp offers just the ticket.
  • 3 p.m. - Summer Sensation 2012 - Anna's Talking Hands: Puppeteer Anna Sobel entertains children, engaging minds and imaginations as well as their sense of humor. This week’s performance "Two Dinosaurs Are Better Than One."
  • 3 to 6 p.m. - Farmers Market at Patriot Place: Attend the Patriot Place Farmers’ Market featuring the freshest and finest from local growers and purveyors across New England.
  • 7 to 10 p.m. - Live Music at Tastings Wine Bar & Bistro: Welcome Bill McGoldrick to Tastings' Music Series’ stage.
  • 8 p.m. - Taj Mahal performs at Showcase Live: You could call him a singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, ethnomusicologist, two-time Grammy-winner, world-class musical collaborator, musicians’ advocate, world traveler, fisherman, or cigar aficionado.

5. Around Foxborough – Thursday’s Community Events

Jessica Prouty Band performs tonight on the Foxboro Common in this summer’s last Concert on the Common as part of the 10-week music series. Bring a blanket or chair and join your community and friends for a night of great music presented by the Foxboro Jaycees. The Jaycees will also have candy, soda and other goodies for sale. … Foxborough High School Cheerleading team will host a fundraiser at Red Robin at Patriot Place Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. The restaurant will donate 20 percent of their proceeds to our team. The team uses the fundraising money to help defray the cost of uniforms, competition, invitationals and so much more that is not otherwise financially supported.

When paying your check, give your server the appropriate voucher, which he or she will attach to your check and the restaurant will contribute 20 percent of the total bill to the Foxboro High School Cheerleading Team.
