Question from a tourist perspective

We will be traveling to your town to attend a concert. Have heard that travel to/from the stadium into Boston is pretty bad.
Do you have suggestions? Are there things to do in Foxborough to keep us busy before/after the concert? Is there anyone local we can hire to be a taxi for us for the nite, that might know some 'back roads'? Any ideas you have we would greatly appreciate!

The drive from Boston to Foxboro is about 45 minutes. I'd call any local taxi and set it up, most taxis that are driving by wont want to take the long trip. Your hotel should be able to set it up. Patriot place at the stadium has shopping bar/nightclubs and great food. It is a great spot to spend some time! I would suggest staying in foxboro, there is a hotel next to the stadium, but if you plan on staying in the city, just come 3/4 hours early and you won't hit any traffic. You won't be bored!!

yes, public transportation to the stadium is almost non-existent. There is a commuter rail that runs to the area (not the stadium). Your best bet is to stay in the immediate area or arrive very early via the train. Taxis won't want to run to the stadium during peak traffic times. There are many private car companies that you can hire for the day but of course they are pricey. The one consolation is that you can easily spend an afternoon at Patriot Place if you enjoy shopping or bar hopping.

It should probably be noted that the commuter rail runs only during football games and some special events. It would be best not to rely on the train to get to the show.
