Saturday, October 19, H.U.G.S. (Help Us Get Safe) of Foxboro held their 7th Annual Fundraiser Walk to promote education and public awareness of domestic viloence at the Ahern Middle School in Foxboro during October's National Domestic Violence Awareness month.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the following merchants who generously donated prize items: Bruce Loewen of Loewen's Deli, Steve Carmichael of Eastern Mountain Sports, Aldjy Sajous from the Olive Garden Restaurant, Stacy Ames and Ben Sigal from Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Crystal Skiver from the TigerLilly Day Spa, Claudia Acosta from The Green Tangerine Spa & Salon, Matt Belitch from Cinema de Lux, and Casey Sarno and Paul Flaherty from Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse.

We also want to thank HUGS Board Member Meghan Witherell, Coordinator of Community Services from New Hope and volunteers Eleanor Chew and Carol Machado for taking the time to display The Clothesline Project around the track for walkers to observe.

A special thanks goes out again to Police Chief Edward T. O'Leary for arranging the life-sized wooden Silent Witness Project figures displayed at the track, the Boyden Library, and BWH/Mass General Health Care Center.

In addition, I want to publicly thank Christine Igo Freeman for being an avid HUGS supporter. As a reporter for the Foxboro Reporter newspaper, HUGS can always count on her coverage of our events and we look forward to reading her subsequent articles and submitted photos.

I would especially like to express my thanks to the following individuals who were directly responsible for organizing and planning this event: HUGS Secretary Cindy Peterson, Executive Director, Brigham and Women's/Mass General Health Care Center at Patriot Place; HUGS Board Member Foxboro Police Chief Edward T. O'Leary; HUGS Treasurer Ruth Karacek, Mass DPH; HUGS Vice Chair Vicki Lowe, Director, Foxboro Council on Aging and Human Services, and HUGS Board Member Charlotte Meade.
