Local residents can get free advice on estate planning and asset protection from trusted professionals at the B.O.C. Life Solutions seminar scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 22, 11 a.m., at the Village at Willows Crossing, 25 Cobb St., in the Club House, Mansfield. Refreshments will be served.

Peter Fredericksen, assistant vice president, B.O.C. Life Solutions, and Matthew J. Marcus, partner at the law firm Colucci, Colucci, Marcus, & Flavin, PC in Milton, will speak to attendees on issues such as: estate planning, minimizing estate taxes, avoiding probate, long term care, minimizing nursing home costs, Health Care Proxy and Durable Power of Attorney, wills, trusts and other relevant issues pertaining to long-term planning.

Anyone with a home, a car, a bank account, investments, business interests, retirement plan accounts, or personal belongings and wants to protect them, needs an estate plan. Even if an individual has already made an estate plan, it is important to have it reviewed and updated each year, because circumstances may change. Children may have gotten married or had their own children, loved ones may have passed away, or divorces may have occurred; all of these situations affect the status of one’s assets and estate.
