Town Meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. inside Foxborough High School’s auditorium. Here’s what you need to know.
Foxborough voters will gather inside the auditorium of Foxborough High School Monday night to say "Yes" or "No" to 29 warrant articles, including the proposed TIF for Invensys (Article 28) and the installation of 70 surveillance cameras throughout Foxborough’s five public schools. Foxborough selectman James DeVellis encouraged residents to get out and exercise their democratic right as voters. “[A lot of people] worked hard on 29 articles,” DeVellis said. “You hate to see only a couple hundred people come out for a population that we have and decide on some important articles. … If you can come out and vote please do so.” To view the town’s warrant, click here. Challengers defeated incumbents in both the Board of Selectmen and School Committee races at Tuesday’s annual town election.

A political newcomer will face a long-time Massachusetts politician in the race to be the Bay State's next U.S. senator. The Associated Press has declared Republican businessman and former U.S. Navy SEAL Gabriel Gomez of Cohasset and Democratic U.S. Congressman Edward Markey of Malden the winners of their U.S. Senate special primary elections, according to tweets from Fox 25. The call for Gomez came approximately one hour after the polls closed in the statewide primary while a call for Markey came moments later. Here’s a resident’s guide to everything you need to know about the upcoming Foxborough town election on Tuesday, April 30th.
Last May, the casino issue brought record crowds to the polls in Foxborough as 6,196 voters participated in the annual town election. That was a massive improvement over the 2011 town election, which only drew 17 percent voter turnout. On Tuesday, with two contested races – Board of Selectmen and School Committee – in the annual town election and a special state primary for U.S. Senate, voter turnout is expected to fall somewhere above the 17 percent in 2011 and below the 58 percent in 2012. Foxborough Board of Selectmen approved Town Clerk Bob Cutler Jr.’s recommendation to combine the annual town election, originally scheduled for May 6th with the state’s special U.S. Senate primary on April 30th with a 3-0 vote on Feb. 26th. The stop at the Route 1 eatery on the Walpole/Foxborough town line was one of many for Gomez Thursday as he took his campaign along the South Shore.
The Red Wing Diner on the Walpole/Foxborough town line on Route 1 had United States Senate candidate Gabriel Gomez as a patron Thursday afternoon, and yes he had the fried clams. Gomez stopped at the Route 1 restaurant as part of a number of stops throughout the state, including New Bedford, Weymouth, Worcester and Auburn.
