Recently I went to my first wedding expo held at Christina's in Foxborough. Boy, was that overwhelming. It was stimulus overload in there, from smelling all the catering food, listening to people talk over the loudspeaker about raffle prizes and just seeing the hundred or so booths filled with all your wedding needs.
Sean (my fiance), Grace (my friend who also just got engaged) and I went from booth to booth collecting any freebies and entering any raffles we could. It turns out we also got a few ideas for catering, transportation and attire, as seen in the photos I posted.
But the first real challenge is finding a venue. And no wedding expo could prepare me for this.
My dream is to have our reception on a farm where we can takeover a barn for a good 'ol fashioned hodown. If we can't find a barn big enough for eating and dancing, we could rent a big tent. We want to have lawn games outside anyway.
The problem is, my parents want to invite everyone under the sun, including cousins I've either never met, or haven't seen in 10 + years. Because they are helping us pay for the wedding though, I may have to let it go.
The first few places we are checking out are Chamberlain Farm, Bittersweet Farm, Tiverton Meetinghouse and Coonamessett Farm. Some of them are definitely too small to have both dinner and dancing in the same area, so hopefully they can accomodate us in some way.
I request readers to make other suggestions if they have any, and to let me know how these places are if they've been to them. And while I'm at it, I'm entering a contest to win jewelry and a honeymoon package...care to vote for our engagement story?
