What Should Replace the Auditorium at the Former Foxborough State Hospital?

What would you like to see done with the auditorium building of the former Foxborough State Hospital on Payson Road?

Drive around Foxborough long enough and you’re bound to see an empty storefront or vacant building.

But do you ever stop to envision what could move into town to fill that opening in town?

We do and now we are asking you in our continuing series, "Visions for Vacancies." We'll showcase an empty storefront or building and ask you what should take up the space. This is your place to sound off and have your say about local businesess and open spaces.

This week, we turn our attention to a building that has been dormant for decades – the old auditorium of the former Foxborough State Hospital on Payson Road behind Foxborough's Public Safety Building and across the street from Chestnut Green.

Foxborough Town Planner Sharon Wason said she hopes the town can find something "interesting" to fill the space. What would you like to see fill the vacant spot? Let us know what you think in the comment section below!

Unfortunately my husband and I studied this building thoroughly for Town Hall use and there is no way that we can use it for that purpose. Too much wasted space and not coherent functions. Sorry about that. Pat Heydecker

I actually think this is a great idea. I recommended on the town future survery that they should convert the old firestation next to commons into a children's museum like Easton. I never thought about this location, but I would think this would work too.
