UPDATED: Hurricane Sandy Leaves Nearly 75 Percent of Foxborough Without Power Monday Night

Tell us where the power outages in Foxborough are from Hurricane Sandy!

UPDATE (10 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29) - Foxborough Fire Chief Roger Hatfield corrected his earlier statement to say it is in fact nearly 75 percent of the town without power as of Monday night.

"Need to correct the numbers," Hatfield said. "37 percent is the number of people with power in Foxborough so over 70 percent of the town is currently without power."

UPDATE (7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29) - Foxborough Fire Chief Roger Hatfield says 37 percent of the town is currently without power as of 7 p.m. Monday evening.

Hatfield said National Grid is ready and waiting to get into town and start restoring power but cannot do so until wind conditions drop below 30 mph, which appears to be happening now.

"The wind, to my understanding, has dropped below 30 mph," Hatfield said. "I will try and get an answer from them on when the crews will begin [addressing the power outages in town]."

Hatfield said National Grid has identified four areas that are causing 37 percent of the town to be without power.

"We are just waiting to figure out when they can get in here and start fixing it," Hatfield said.

Those four areas are:

  • Mechanic and Lane streets
  • Pleasant Street
  • Hope Avenue
  • Main Street and Colony Road

As of 7:10 p.m. National Grid is reporting eight power outages in Foxborough affecting 5,644 customers.

Lots of trees with wires down in Foxboro. It doesn't matter too much if your wires are underground. The utilities could be diverted for safety reasons. Hang tight!
