State Rep. Barrows to Run for Relection
State Representative Jay Barrows (R-Mansfield) has announced his plans to run for re-election.
Surrounded by more than a 100 family, friends and supporters at his home in Mansfield Saturday, State Representative Jay Barrows announced he will run for re-election to a fourth term in the Massachusetts House of Representatives in the 1st Bristol District.
Barrows represents Foxborough.
“It is a privilege to represent and serve the communities of Foxborough, Mansfield, and Norton,” said Barrows. “Together, we’ve been able to accomplish a great deal towards keeping our area a great place to raise families, buy a home and open a business – but there is still more to do. I am running for re-election as State Representative to ensure we continue to have a local voice on Beacon Hill. I would be honored to earn your vote again in November.”
Barrows was introduced by three of his State House colleagues, State Representative Steven Howitt (with whom he shares Norton), Assistant Minority Leader George Peterson of Grafton, and House Minority Leader Brad Jones of North Reading.
“This district is very fortunate to have Jay in Boston working for them.” said Jones. “Whenever we’re discussing legislation, Jay is always mindful of the impact it has back on the people in his district. He advocates for the residents and businesses he represents. He makes sure they are not forgotten.”
The event for Barrows welcomed guests young and old from the three communities and beyond. The program featured Haley Organ, a fourth grade student at Foxborough Regional Charter School, singing the National Anthem and Bill Dudley, Pastor at Union Church in Foxborough giving the invocation.
Elected officials showing their support included State Representatives Shaunna O’Connell of Taunton, Angelo D’Emilia of Bridgewater, Kim Furguson of Holden, Fmr. State Representative and Foxborough Selectwoman Ginny Coppola, Fmr. State Representative Bill Vernon, Mansfield Selectman Olivier Kozlowski and Norton Selectman Bob Kimball.
A small business owner himself, Barrows held the kickoff at his family barn and noted that all local vendors were supported in hosting the event, including: Pig Pickin’ BBQ in Norton, Linda’s Cookies in Mansfield, Ward’s Berry Farm in Sharon, Ferensteins Farm & Supply in Foxborough and Longview Gardens in Norton.
“At the end of the day,” Barrows added, “It truly is about serving the people who have given you the honor of their vote. I work hard to have an office that is an accessible, reliable resource for constituents and to be an effective legislator that can get things done.”
Barrows is a third generation resident of Mansfield and graduate of Mansfield High School. He and his wife, Debbie (a Foxborough native), have three sons: Cameron and his wife, Bella, of Anchorage, Alaska; Colby and his fiancée, Karin Knutsen of Mansfield; Chris and his wife, Britney, and two-year-old son, Logan of Mansfield; and a daughter, Caitlin, at home. Barrows owns an insurance agency in Mansfield.
The 1st Bristol District consists of the Town of Foxboro, Mansfield precincts 2, 3, and 6, and Norton precincts 4, 5, 6. For more information on Rep. Barrows visit www.repbarrows.org or his campaign website at www.votebarrows.com.
