A two vehicle collision Tuesday resulted in the death of a Walpole man.

Troopers from the Foxboro barracks responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a cement truck and a car on Route 1 in Foxborough Tuesday morning.

The accident happened just before 10:00 a.m.

Police say 34-year-old Matthew Gallagher of Walpole was killed when he failed to stop for a red light. 

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Paul Dockery indicates a 2002 Infiniti G20, operated by Gallagher was traveling on North Street when he failed to stop for a red light. The car entered Route 1 on the southbound side when the Infiniti was struck by a 2005 Oshkosh cement mixer truck owned by Boro Sand and Gravel of North Attleboro and operated by John Stapleton, 51, of Foster, Rhode Island.

The southbound side of Route 1 at North St. was closed for approximately one hour, as collision recon teams investigated the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, State police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Foxboro Fire Department and the Department of Transportation Highway Division. 

Stapleton was not physically harmed in the collision but is in shock over the accident, according to the Sun Chronicle.
