Selectmen Continue Jake n JOES Liquor License Hearing to Feb. 26
Selectmen will review Jake n JOES’ application for alteration of premises for All Alcohol Restaurant License.
Foxborough’s Board of Selectmen continued Tuesday’s public hearing to review Jake n JOES’ application for alteration of premises for the establishment’s All Alcohol Restaurant License to Feb. 26.
Foxborough Town Manager Kevin Paicos said Jake n JOES needed to file an application for alteration of premises with the town after Building Inspector Bill Casbarra discovered the establishment’s floor plan did not match the one submitted with the All Alcohol Restaurant License.
“It was very different,” Paicos said of the floor plan. “The owners didn’t realize they needed to come in with a different plan so it’s just an unfortunate error because as many restaurants as they’ve owned, they’ve never opened a new place. It’s always been other restaurants that were already active. This is a new endeavor for them.”
Paicos said Tuesday’s hearing was continued to Feb. 26 because in addition to the alteration of premises application, Jake n JOES needed to submit a change in stock holdership because the restaurant added a stockholder since the liquor license was approved last August. The change in stock holdership application also requires a public hearing.
“During the process between when they got the permit from the Board of Selectmen and when they actually constructed [the restaurant], a partner who has been involved in some other of their restaurants came forward and became a financial partner but the paperwork that had originally been submitted didn’t reflect this partner,” Paicos said. “So when the alteration of premises was being filled out to be given to the ABCC and the Board of Selectmen, [Jake n JOES’] counsel realized not only did the restaurant need a change in premises but needed a change in stock holdership. That was realized too late because that requires a hearing and we couldn’t get that advertised in time.”
So selectmen will hold two public hearings on Feb. 26 to review – and likely approve – both Jake n JOES applications, which would effectively green light the sports grille to open its 25 Foxborough Blvd. location.
“[There’s] no real issue [with the establishment],” Paicos said. “I’ve been done there and it’s quite impressive what they’ve done. It’s just a technicality that they have to go through. It’s going to be a real credit to the community.”
The public hearing is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 26.
Selectmen Approve Application for Change of Manager at The Oliver Garden At Patriot Place
Foxborough met briefly with Olive Garden manager Stephanie Maher to approve the restaurant’s change of manager application. The board effectively transferred Olive Garden’s liquor license from Karen Charlesworth to Maher.
“Application looks good,” said Foxborough Board of Selectmen vice chair Mark Sullivan.
