REPORT: Foxborough Ranks Eighth Among Most Expensive Towns in Area
A report in the Boston Business Journal compares Foxborough's tax rates with neighboring towns.
According to the Boston Business Journal, Foxborough compares favorably to some of its neighboring towns in terms of commercial industrial tax rates, ranking as the eighth most expensive town compared to Sharon, Mansfield, Wrentham, Norfolk, Norton, Franklin, Easton, Plainville, Norwood and Brockton.
In November, Foxborough's Board of Selectmen voted 4-1 in favor of keeping a split-tax classification rate for the second straight year.
The new tax rate, which shifts just over 1 percent of the burden to local businesses, will increase residential taxes by six percent or roughly an increase of just over $300.
The new residential rate per $1,000 valuation is $14.54, up from last year's $13.73, which ranked eighth among 11 towns in the area. The new business rate is $15.13 per $1,000 valuation, up from $14.86 last year.
Selectman Virginia Coppola opposed the recommended split-tax rate because she felt it put too much of the financial burden on local businesses.
Across the state, Chilmark on Martha’s Vineyard has the lowest residential and commercial/industrial tax rates in the Commonwealth – a 2.08 single rate. Sharon has the highest residential tax rate (also a single rate) in Massachusetts at 20.11 percent.
Everett had the highest commercial/industrial tax rate at 41.66 percent.

So if I'm reading this correctly then Foxboro is 8th out of 11? Why not just say it's the third least expensive?
