The brand new Putnam Club was unveiled to the Media August 30 by Patriots Owner Robert Kraft and Putnam Investments CEO and President Robert L. Reynolds. Kraft and Reynolds gave a tour of the new Club, showing the view, the amenities, and touching on a variety of subjects.
In August, it was announced that Putnam Investments and the Kraft Sports Group made a long-term brand partnership for Gillette Stadium. In an official release, Reynolds said, "under the inspiring leadership of Robert and Jonathan Kraft, the New England Patriots have earned a reputation for success that is as powerful off the field as it is on.
"Together we will make a very formidable team," he noted.
Throughout the tour of the new club, Robert Kraft was visibly emotional when referring several times to his late wife Myra, who only recently passed away. Constantly referencing her as "my love" and "my sweetie," Kraft said how much she would have enjoyed the new Club and the company of Reynolds.
Kraft was also asked about the recent damage Foxborough suffered at the hands of Hurricane Irene, and the fact that Gillette Stadium had power restored, yet Foxborough residents still had not.
"I can't really speak of things I don't really have an understanding of. I was without power myself, and the generators we used, at home and here have been donated to the community. I don't blame them for being upset. I would be too," he said.
Kraft was also asked about recent Patriots Acquisitions of Albert Haynesworth and Chad Ochocinco.
"Ochocinco is a lot different. Both he and Haynesworth are a lot different in my opinion than the media has portrayed them. Ochocinco is very self-contained and works very hard, and I know he wants to do well. He and Brady seem to have a great rapport," he said.
"Haynesworth has been a gentleman. I don't know if you've heard him speak. He's not the image on the NFL Network with that mean face. I hope he is mean during the games," Kraft joked. "But everything I've seen, he's a very likable fellow, and I hope both of them make great contributions."
The new Putnam Club was also the site for the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation's "Kickoff Gala 2011."
