Get Out and Buy Local This Saturday

The Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce's Buy Local Saturday will be held this weekend – June 23. The event is part of the Chamber's summer long Buy Local program.

Support area businesses this weekend by shopping – and buying – local.

On Saturday, June 23 the Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce will be holding its Buy Local Saturday event as part of its summer long Buy Local program.

"We’re encouraging shoppers to buy local and show it by taking a picture with the 2012 Tri-Town Chamber Member sticker and posting it on the Tri-Town Chamber Facebook Page,” said Kara Griffin, executive director for the Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce. “The person with the most pictures posted on Facebook by 6 p.m. on Saturday will win a Chamber Buy Local gift certificate.”

Jen Vondenbrink, Tri-Town social media specialist, says the response from area residents and businesses, including Foxborough, has been "great" over the past two weeks.

"I've been talking to local businesses about Buy Local [for the last two weeks] ... and everyone has been enthusiastic about the program," she said. “For example we have Barrows Insurance Agency in Mansfield who is offering a special where they are donating $5 for every quote written in June and 5 percent of every policy written to local organizations in the three towns, Inner Light in Mansfield is offering a Face Lift Massage for $50 (regularly $90), Adonis Electrolysis in Norton is offering new clients $5 off, and Norton Kayak Company has been offering weekend paddle specials.

"I even stopped into Aunt Aleda’s Country Kitchen in Mansfield to take a picture of their Father’s Day cakes to post on the Facebook Page.  It’s so great to see how people have embraced Buy Local.”

Other summer Buy Local events include featuring Do Local/Stay Local in July, a back to school contest in August for kids and their families, and topped off with Celebrate Local, which includes the Chamber's annual Oktoberfest.
