Whoever prepared this poll shows very little understanding of how voting works. No voter must vote for 2 people. The ballot instructions are to vote for no more than 2 people.Voting for only one person is the same as giving that person 2 votes. Savvy people who prefer one candidate over all others often do that. It's called "bullet" voting. A proper poll would have listed candidates individually, not in pairs.

Good point Dennis. I agree. The poll should be re-submitted with the candidates listed individually to make it mean anything.

Let's not forget Ms. Slattery's family work at Gillette and for other Kraft initiatives. If you and family members work for a man who signs your paycheck, how independent can you be?

All these articles make it seem like the casino is the only objective in town. If you're for it, vote Harrington/Slattery. Against, vote Brue/Coppola. I just moved to town. I am sure there are other issues that these candidates stand for that would help make my decision, but all that is being told is how they stand on the casino issue.

If you look at Larry Harrington and Martha Slattery, "Ryguypt" You will notice they are for everyone having a say in ALL issues. They are NOT running on one issue. That is exactly why I am supporting them. I am pro-information-and have not made up my mind on any issues with out information. This goes for the resort casino as well. A side note to this-My husband has worked for the New England Patriots for 13 years-and we have NEVER voted for the same candidate in the 18 years we have resided in Foxboro. We believe strongly in our democratic process. And welcome to Foxboro-it is truly a wonderful town.

Did Anyone watch the selectmen 'debate' the other day? They spent 90% of the hour or two talking CASINO. This election is about nothing else . This will change the character and makeup of this whole area for 75 YEARS. Give me a break with the 'it's not just the casino' talk..

you make it sound like if Harrington/Slattery get elected a casino will be built and if Brue/Coppola get elected a casino will not be built, this is simply not true. I do beleive if Coppola/Brue get elected it will be more difficult for Wynn but I do not believe that just bu electing H/S a casino will pass. I still think that if it is brought to a vote there is no way the by-law gets changed. The BOS make-up will not change that. I truely will not cast my vote based on this casino issue. I believe there are bigger factor that go into my choices for BOS.

My husband and I are both anti-casino, however we both support Larry Harrington. A vote for Larry does not mean a vote for a casino. If/When the town votes on the casino we will vote accordingly.

Steve and Michael thanks for your input. I too believe that when Martha and Larry get in there is NO sure fire way a resort/casino will be built here. But I for one want to see all the hard facts of "actual" structure, the dimensions of the "actual" casino space, water use and their plan for conservation and so much more. I didn't buy into the whole Beanie Babies hype, so maybe I can believe my opinion and judgement can withstand the hype and I can make an informed vote when I have all the info. Team Larry and MArtha! Pay no mind to the obnoxious comments like the one above referring to Foxboro residents as "hicks" This is not the first time I hear a jokster refer to Foxboro as a bunch of "hicks" If this poster knew what a "hick" was, that does not define the people in this area, much less this town. We are a middle class town. We are next to many other middle class towns. We do not live in the boonies, we live off a major highway, Route 1. Every town has a few undesireables, namely some of the very outspoken casino advocates that do not represent the majority, but that comes with the issue unfortunately.

Thanks, I needed a good laugh on a dreary morning. Fourteen people have left 30 comments that have nothing to do with whether or not a casino is good or bad for Foxboro. Casinos are coming to MA. Like it or not. Is it better that we host one which as a town we can control, or have one in the next town, which is out of our control? This is an opportunity for Foxboro to to grow in a responsible way. The benefits to the community far out- number the drawbacks. We are not hicks, but we need to stop acting like hicks.

I agree with Johnson & Johnson...people don't realize that you can make a lot of money at a casino. I am willing to turn this town over to Kraft and Wynn. They are great men with proven track records. And everyone knows you DONT want to get on Mr. Krafts bad side.

Interesting how it is 2 days before the town election and all of a sudden, we get a barage of "new " posters (or should I say 'poster') posting obnoxious, childish, pro-casino comments. Just goes to show what we are dealing with. I can't wait for this to end when Brue and Coppola get elected. Oh, and BTW, Boston is getting the casino.

“Allow 11,000 people to vote” is the new calling to get voters to select Mr. Harrington and Ms. Slattery over the two other candidates. The Wynn Casino closes its flyers with “You deserve the right to choose” indicating that the Board of Selectmen is denying us the right to choose.
Reflecting on the past month’s campaign rhetoric, it is clear that the “Freedom to Choose” issue has been exploited to convey the message that the present Board of Selectman are the culprits and that Ms. Brue should not be reelected as one that is not interested in hearing the voice of the majority.
Who is the majority?
The town voted to have a bylaw to protect the town against gambling, which required two thirds majority at Town Meeting. The majority have spoken. Their claim is not correct.
The Democratic system is in place and it works. Provided one is willing to take the steps that are needed to bring about change, there is no possible way that an elected body can impose anything on the people.

As explained by Mr. Paicos in September 2011, the public can present a petition to the Town Officials, with 100 signatures to request that an item be added to the Town Meeting warrant, to cancel or modify the Gambling By Law and/or to request that the BoS enters into a Host Community discussion with the Wynn Casino.

Mr. Harrington was made aware of that option but chose not to act on it, nor to pass the information to those who are supporting his re-election. It would be naïve to assume that the Kraft Organization or the Wynn Casino legal teams were not aware that town by laws can be changed or modified and that the people have the power to demand items be added into a warrant for voting.
They simply could have gone this route. Did they feel safe doing so? I doubt it, so their choice was simple- change the dissenting selectman and take over the decision making of the board to represent their interests. This year is Ms. Brue, next year could be Mr. DeVellis.
Wynn Casinos/Kraft are not in a rush, as the legislation is not complete and they have plenty of time to influence town politics and get a friendly Pro Casino board so that they will get a better deal.
So are our rights really being denied? Absolutely not. !
No one denied anyone their rights to get the 100 signatures. People just did not bother to follow procedures that are set up to protect our rights. The 100 signatures can be presented any time the public so desires.

The Wynn / Kraft group possibly knew, as a result of all of the polling they have been doing, that they would lose the vote should they have requested to have a referendum on gambling. They changed the strategy to make some people believe that their rights were being denied.
They are hoping we would simply reject the present board to defend our right to be heard, not because we want the casino.
I hope that we all vote to remain strong on our antigambling position until such a time that we can evaluate gambling without Wynn sponsored infomercials, that only show the glamour of the hotels business without the reality of the casino business that might come and change the dynamics of our town as well as our life as we know it .

Please vote even a 50/60% turnout is too low. All I am hoping for from this election is elected officials with a goal to reduce taxes and the cost of town provided services. In reading the comments on Patch it looks to me like you have some candidates with open minds and some that are not. Hopefully the open minded ones will be elected and we can avoid lawsuits that we taxpayers have to fund. As far as a casino goes I very much doubt that Foxboro will ever be approved by the state to get the go ahead. Just get out to VOTE.

Larry Harrington, who had secret meetings with Kraft and consistently bullies other board members and town employees, needs to be voted out. He is a tyrant.

Taxes and fees are too high in Foxboro and unfortunately it is very doubtful that Kraft/Wynn are not going to get a casino regardless of the outcome of this election. We will have to wait and see what Mr Kraft ends up building on the property and lets hope it is something that will reduce our taxes and fees. Vote this week!

For my own information was Coppola appointed or elected? I think I, along with the Hector's of the town , should have a write in candidate "Foxboro Born" . I think this will get us to "All American City" status.

Funny thing is, I told the Casino guy, if you can promise Foxboro won't lose power for five days like we did last fall, I'm sure you'd be welcomed with open arms. He knew what i was talking about, and he said that would be discussed at an open meeting. If Kraft can get his electricity from somewhere else, well then maybe Wynn Casinos can help us do that too.
