Foxborough Man Arrested for OUI 2nd Offense Following Crash in Norton
James Doherty, 65, of Foxborough, was charged with OUI second offense and negligent operation of a motor vehicle following a motor vehicle accident Sunday morning in Norton that injured a woman.
NORTON - Norton Police arrested Foxborough resident James Doherty, 65, and charged him with OUI and negligent operation of a motor vehicle following a Sunday morning motor vehicle crash that injured a Norton woman, according to police.
On Sunday, Dec. 2 at 12:20 a.m., Norton police and fire responded to the area of 81 Cobb St. for a report of a motor vehicle crash, according to police. The operator of the vehicle, Doherty, attempted to negotiate the sharp turn on Cobb Street, but lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. A 58-year-old female rear passenger from Norton was transported to Sturdy Hospital by the Norton Fire Department for non-life threatening injuries. No other occupants in the vehicle were injured.
Doherty was placed under arrest at the scene and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second offense and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. He was later released and appeared in Attleboro District Court Monday, Dec. 3.
Responding officers were Sergeant Robert Whitfield, Patrolman James Cameron and Patrolman Kevin Schleicher Jr.
