Foxborough Democrats to sponsor discussion of gun violence with area legislators and Foxborough Police Chief Edward O'Leary.

Foxborough Democrats will sponsor a discussion of gun violence on Monday, March 18 at 7 p.m. in the McGinty Room of the Foxborough Public Safety Building.

Those invited to speak on the topic are State Representative Paul Heroux of Attleboro, Representative David Linsky of Natick, Representative Frederick “Jay” Barrows of Mansfield and Foxborough Police Chief Edward O’Leary, according to Foxborough Democratic Town Committee chair Dennis Naughton.

Representative Linsky is the sponsor of H 3253, an act relative to further regulating the licensing, sale and possession of firearms and increasing the tax on the sale of firearms and ammunition.

This bill has been assigned to the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security, chaired by Senator James Timilty.

The meeting is open to the public and all are invited to attend. Any questions regarding the event should be directed to Naughton.

Just to clarify: When the invitations went out in January, we also invited Senator Timilty. His aide informed us that the senator was not available on March 18th.

"The provisions of this paragraph shall not apply to the possession of a large capacity weapon or large capacity feeding device by (i) any officer, agent or employee of the commonwealth" - Does this mean Representative Linsky who sponsored the bill can have a large capacity weapon?

Hope to have a big turnout of honest law abiding gun owners who are about to lose their rights ! ask Mr Linsky how many murders were committed using an AR15semi-automatic rifle in Mass this year or any year ? The second amendment was not about hunting ! It was about the tyrannical government that could possibly evolve and looks like the governed are seeing the beginning of that now !

I will be there to proudly support the 2nd amendment. Infringement upon our rights needs to end. Enough is enough!

Ask Linsky how well gun laws work since in 1998 when MA pass very restrictive gun laws, there were 65 murders and in 2011 there were 122. Hey say some BS about criminals buying them out of state and bringing them in. That is the issue, criminals ignore the laws and the law abiding people deal with these worthless laws and hassle.

And there are plenty of guns that originated in MA that are used in crimes in NH and other states.

Ask Linsky if he is going to censor anyone who disagrees with him, just like he does on social media sites. He won't respond to any questions other than blocking people who ask why he thinks any of this proposed insanity will be effective. How is forcing a lawful gun owner to purchase insurance going to help prevent violence? It makes no sense to any rational person.
