5-Car Crash on I-495 Foxborough Slows Morning Commute

Multiple accidents have already been reported Tuesday morning as snow, rain and sleet combine to make for miserable and hazardous commute into work.

A five-car motor vehicle accident was reported on I-495 Northbound just north of I-95 in Foxborough just before 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Four vehicles were in the median while the fifth vehicle was off the road and in the woods, according to the report.

The condition of the drivers remain unknown at this time. Patch will update this report when more information becomes available.

Massachusetts State Police did say I-495 is "slow going" Tuesday morning as "plows are treating snow-covered roads." MSP encourages drivers to "take it slow while commuting" and "leave plenty of room between cars."

Shortly after the five-car crash was reported, Massachusetts Department of Transportation reported a second motor vehicle accident on I-495 in Foxborough involving a truck. This incident occurred on I-495 Southbound at Exit 13A/B of I-95 and reduced the highway to one lane.

The hazardous road conditions Tuesday morning forced Foxborough Public Schools and Foxborough Regional Charter School to delay openings by two hours. Foxborough kindergarten and pre-school classes were cancelled.

The Hockomock Area YMCA shared this message related to Tuesday's schedule as a result of the storm:

"The North Attleboro and Foxborough schools have reported a two hour delay, therefore all North Attleboro and Foxboro Branch classes before 11 a.m. (program and group exercise) are canceled.

These delays are based on our Inclement Weather Policy.

All child care and child watch programs are running as normally scheduled, no delays. However, the Bernon Family Branch Y World of Tots Preschool (part day program) is not open today.

All classes and group exercise will continue as normally scheduled at 2 p.m. for the Franklin branch; and North Attleboro and Foxboro at 11 a.m.

Thank you and be safe today. We're looking forward to the first day of spring later this week!"
